➢ Entrepreneurial senior executive, investor & board member with extensive experience identifying, positioning & financing new business opportunities in early stage & established technology & life science companies.

➢ Directly involved in founding 12 technology & life science companies.

➢ Significant transaction experience –- directly involved in raising over $135 million of private company venture capital, $420 million of public equity offerings & $2.4 billion of mergers & acquisitions.

➢ Actively involved as board member, investor & advisor to numerous companies, including: HNC Software, Fair Isaac, Redwood Trust (NYSE), Saf-T-Med, Health Dialog, Exact Sciences, Symon Communications, as well as numerous non-profits.

 

Mr. Farb founded and is President of Estabrook Ventures, LLC providing interim management services, business plan development and angel investments to numerous medical and technology companies.  As part of Estabrook Ventures, Mr. Farb has had assignments as developing the business plan for the formation of Thrive Bioscience, Inc., President of MedicaMetrix, a prostate cancer diagnostic company and as Co-founder & President of Precision Ventures, LLC , a diversified medical device development and licensing company. Currently, Mr. Farb is full-time President of Thrive Bioscience, Inc. in Beverly, MA and a Co-Founder an and Advisor to Brahman Industries, LLC, developer of the STATIM ("Storm, Tornado And Tsunami Interconnected Module”) Shelter System, an innovative & life saving modular concrete, floating shelter that will have significant global & social impact and save lives where previously not possible, particularly in a tsunami or other disasters. In 2012 through 2013, Mr. Farb was Co-Founder, EVP of Corporate Development & CFO of Atherio, a global IT Services & web/mobile development company with 300 employees & $30 million in revenues, the result of several acquisitions, with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida and offices in the U.S., London and India.

From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Farb was Executive Director of the Trust for Science, Technology and Research, San Juan Puerto Rico which provided technology transfer services and funding, venture investments & direct research grants to commercialize research. Assets included 70 acres in central San Juan being developed into a research park as well as significant funding from government & pharmaceuticals companies.

From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Farb was President & Chief Operating Officer of Indevus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: IDEV), Lexington, MA, a $100 million revenue company developing products for and marketing pharmaceuticals and devices to urologists and endocrinologists. Mr. Farb implemented a strategy of utilizing its 100 person sales force to sell both drugs and devices to the same physician call points. The company was acquired by Endo Health Solutions (NASDAQ: ENDP).

From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Farb participated in the private equity and venture capital industries.  In 2003 he co-founded and was Managing Director of the Boston- and Shanghai-based private equity firm, New America Partners, where he led several investments in China including in WuXi Pharmatechs (NYSE: WX) and co-led the establishment of a China-based joint venture fund with the City of Shanghai. 

Previously, from 1994 to 1998, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Interneuron Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: IPIC), a $100 million company developing and marketing drugs for central nervous system (CNS) indications, antimicrobicides (using combinatorial chemistry) and cancer therapeutics (using gene therapies).

From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Farb was Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer of Cytyc Corporation (NASDAQ: CYTC), a diagnostics and device company focusing on women’s health, recently acquired by Hologic (NASDAQ: HOLX). While at Cytyc, the Company launched its ThinPrep device and he was instrumental in developing the business plan for an applied genomics colon cancer screening test which was spun out and subsequently went public (Exact Sciences, NASDAQ: EXAS).

Prior to that Mr. Farb held positions of CFO & SVP at Aircraft Funding Corp.,  General Manager of Eastern Operations & CFO at Symbolics, Inc. and Assistant VP in the High Technology Lending and Equity Group at Bank of Boston (now Bank of America).

  • Language Technology – software to automate software enhancement (acquired by Sterling Software)
